Countdown – 75 Days 14 hours 14 minutes – Calm will Arrive!

I was inspired by this countdown clock that measures to the second how much longer it will be until election day. I wrote the following poem starting with a borrowed line from Destined 4 the Dub. I write found poems all the time and all it takes is reading a clever line from a fellow blogger. I want to create awareness and encourage people to read and listen as we move closer to election day. It is so important to keep informed and to be able to distinguish the truth and alternative facts.

I hope you enjoy this poem. Afterall, my goal is to inspire with my art and poetry. I have been enjoying the comments. Here is the found poem. I hope that one of you can give it a title. Please write your suggestions in the comments.

Carefully choose what you remember.

Let go of all the lies.

Allow the waves of change

to flow gracefully into your hearts.

We are the new dreamers.

However, the seeds were planted long ago.

Sow them gently;

So you hear their soothing mantra.

They create harmony for us;

all of us.

Know now the urgency of our oneness.

Our voices echo love and peace.

Do not forget to look at the view.

Nature always heals the soul.

Watch out for the rainbow;

it knows our destiny.

We will survive!

Breathe!

This too shall pass.

On Breathing

Image by ju Irun from Pixabay

Take a deep breath with me

Visualize a brand new world

free of hatred and craziness

no more absurd

only love and peace conserved.

Take a deep breath with me

close your eyes

there is so much beauty to see

even a raindrop seems magical

learn to watch for the miracles.

Let your goal be to be free.

Take a deep breath with me

look inside your soul

pure love will take control.

Take a deep breath with me

I am sure you will agree

that with every breath you take

you will find that all heartbreak

will disappear

and fears will be no longer

and you will be much stronger.

  • I believe that we all need to learn to breathe intently and mindfully in order to free ourselves from pain and anxiety and to reach calmness. During this time of social distancing, isolation and for some of us deep sorrow, it is imperative to keep the faith and to maintain our immune system stronger than ever. Below is a link to a video on how to take deep cleansing breaths by Dr. Andrew Weil. I have passed on this video to many of my family members and friends. A fun way to keep connected is to use the Zoom app and do the exercises with a group of friends. Teach your children how to do the breathing exercises. Please let me know about your experiences. In the meantime, stay safe.

What the World Needs Now

Walk mindfully today

Keeping your distance, yes

But only physically

We need each other more these days

The pain is overwhelming for many

it is the greatest reverse of fortune

even for the mighty and brave

Tomorrow’s journey is uncertain

So live today fully

Love passionately

Give genorously

Let gratitude be your daily mantra

Oh yes, and Breathe!

Look at the view!

Nature will be your teacher.

The trees have continued to bloom,

the birds continue to build their nests,

Unaware perhaps of our grave situation,

It is our opportunity today, right now

to watch and listen carefully

natural intelligence

will always prevail.

BREATHE!

Today, tomorrow and for as long as we will need to deal with the Corona Virus crisis, I plan to do some mindful breathing. Every morning before I get out of bed I breathe deeply, purposefully and with a positive mind.

Panic and worry begets more worry and more tension. This affects our entire system. We need to stop paying too much attention to the increments in the numbers of newly discovered cases and pay more attention to our breathing. We need to take deep cleansing breaths and use meditation as a tool to help us relax through it all.

I am what you may call a natural worry wart but lately I have been focusing more on my breathing and talking myself into calmness. High levels of anxiety can cause our autoimmune system to collapse at a time when we need our immunity to be at its peak performance levels.

I am not saying it is an easy task. I am not a medical professional to tell you this is a cure. I can only tell you that practicing mindfulness and taking charge of my anxious thoughts has worked for me.

I have been painting more and writing more. I have called friends I have not spoken too in a while to help them cope with the craziness. I listen to my collection of oldies but goodies.

My granddaughters are now forced to be at home because schools have closed. We have been told not to visit for now which breaks my heart. So, I have been using Skype and Facetime to communicate with them. I have recorded myself reading stories and send them via email or text. This keeps me busy and it is a way to connect to the girls. I believe that we can always find something good within a difficult situation. This is a time to catch up with family; make the phone call, write a letter or video tape a message. Family should come first.

Oh, and did I tell you I “breeeaaattthhhe” So my friends on WordPress and fellow bloggers I hope you are all well and healthy. I urge you to follow the stipulated guidelines and common sense practices to keep healthy but every time you get a chance please BREATHE! Happy breathing!

On Happiness – By Melba Christie

“Ever since happiness heard your name

it has been running through the streets

trying to find you.” -Unknown

Happiness finds us

when we are not looking.

Our hearts speak softly

when it wants us to listen,

to let you know

about your uniqueness,

and the wonderful things

only you can see,

feel and know.

Happiness will find you

when it does

Open the journal

in your heart

and engrave

the precious day.

My Painting and a Quote by Shakespeare

Lately, all I wish for is peace and quiet. I have been watching too many shows that focus on politics and the state of the union if you will. I am just exhausted. I needed to get back into a zen place and focus on writing again and painting.

The painting above is imagined but suits me fine  for the time being. I also started sketching and drawing portraits from old photographs. It has been therapeutic.

There is nothing more calming than painting and writing. I recommend it highly.  I would like to hear about other remedies for reducing stress. Please send me your thoughts.

Question Mark ?

*I often sit watching the clouds change into different shapes. I wrote this poem this morning after a few minutes of meditation.

I looked up at the sky this morning

mindful of its enormity

yet so serene

Breathed in and out

so gratefully.

Then  a white-grayish cloud framed in lavender

morphed into a question mark

so proudly

it spread across the sky

and asked me,

“When is it that all of you will learn to love each other?”

The cloud stretched

and stretched

until it became an endless line,

Now we need to fill in the blank.

Will we?

On Meditation

Meditation brings us closer to the silence

we all need right now

the more silent and still

the more awareness grows

like wild ferns in the deep forest.

Peace evolves from within:

the soul develops hardy muscles

to keep depression out;

like a great cyclone fence

it protects,

but still lets the sun rays dance around you.

Meditation energizes;

it brings back the pep in your step.

Breathe the Yoga Master commands

Breathe and let your heart sing

as you meet all your soulmates.

Breathe and be still

the thrill

will

elevate you

high up

and soon

you will feel

the clouds.

Breathe!

Peace to all.

Joy

Joy

The ecstasy that

directs

our inner light

so that others

 heal

as we grow rich

with empathy,

compassion and love.

All it takes is one selfless

act of kindness

one moment of infinite patience

when it is totally unexpected.
