Goodbye 2021

“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering ‘it will be happier’…” Tennyson was right. Hope always smiles. It cheers us on when we are down and helps us to get through many disappointments. After all hope is all we can hope for because it is a gift from the divine. The New Year provides us with a clean slate to start a new chapter in our lives. A new year is full of expectations, resolutions, goals, and dreams to be fulfilled. But if we falter and or somehow forget our resolutions, give up on our dreams or deny ourselves that great expectation then we can always hope that hope smiles again the following year.
2016 is a year to be remembered for sure. It was one of many tragic events and one where we all focused on the presidential election. Many greats in the fields of science and the arts passed away leaving a certain void in the world. But life moves on. We can only hope that more great minds are still developing and finding ways to save the planet, cure diseases, and help us to truly understand the purpose of our stay on this earth.
2017 can only be as good as we make it. Maybe we can work together to make it so. Happy New Year.
Thanks to all my followers for your continued support.
I wish I did not have to wish for anything at all
I wish things were perfect like in some fairy tales
But if you don’t wish then you’ll never know if they come true.
So here it goes,
my list of wishes for the New Year 2016:
I wish for humankind to understand
that love is what will save us.
I wish for peace, of course,
but moreover, I wish that all of us would want it
so bad that we would not accept anything else.
I wish that the elderly were appreciated more.
I wish I could have longer and more fascinating
conversations with my children so that they
get it, get life I mean, and finally get me.
I wish we did not have to listen to crazy
politicians two years before an actual election.
I wish cancer especially in young children could be abolished.
I wish that real and productive research is devoted to all diseases.
I wish I could live in three places at the same time.
I wish for no more natural disasters.
I wish guns would disappear from the face of the earth.
I wish for privacy in my own hands.
I wish for an equitable pay for women.
I wish for maturity for those who lack it;
youthful thoughts for those who getting older
and people to be at peace and feeling well.
I wish for brotherly love, authentic acts of kindness,
and the concept of passing it forward to intensify.
I wish all my followers, and the blogger community
that all your wishes are fulfilled
and I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!
You are still too young
to know the dreams
I store in my heart
Your predecessor may have told you about me
I am a dreamer; an unconditional believer
a non-conformist when injustice exists
a lover of nature and knowing
But I want you
to listen closely
to me please
I need you to be a true north
a lucky seven
helping time to pass quickly
for those who suffer
and slowly for those who
need the extra time to resolve
I feel that you will be better
that you will go down
in history as a bountiful year
a year where we begin to
understand each other more
I look forward to every day
one day at a time
making every minute count
for me and those I love.
No matter what happens
No matter what your resolutions may be
A new year is a new journey
A new year is what you help it to be

Make it the best
Melba Christie at Poemattic wishes you a Happy New Year! Thanks to my readers for your continued support.
This is a voice over I made a few years ago for my grandson. I have another grandson almost a year old and so I am dedicating this to him and his big brother. I love this poem and hope you will enjoy it too.
Melba Christie presents:
He picked February to take his lonely ride on the Soul Train to the other side
we will never forget the Saturday afternoons he encouraged us to dance
in front of our TVs.
Only Heaven Knows what her Last Dance was like
But it must have been to a great song On the Radio
And we will never Love to Love each other the way we did then.
She mesmerized us with her powerful voice
intended to spread the Gospel by first choice
and helped us appreciate the Greatest Love of All within us.
Another inspiration to teenagers everywhere
was a great gentleman
who introduced us to a program
called American Bandstand
We danced to all the different beats
we swayed to catchy lyrics the whole time
and every 31st of December
he ushered in the New Year with Auld Lang Syne
Undefeated he fought many battles,
but lost his greatest bout in life victim to street violence
We always will remember his flashy stance
and his unique dance around the ring
and pray this great Lightweight Champion is facing his maker in the greatest of Gardens.
He showed us how simple life could be
in his Mayberry town,
his smile was so contagious and friendly
and the only time he would put on a frown
was in his role as Matlock the savvy lawyer of a small country town.
For 60 minutes every Sunday evening
we watched as he asked the tough questions
only great journalist learn to craft
and he made sure he got the answers for our satisfaction.
We lost many more celebrities during the year 2012
(the year that should have ended the world)
this poem is a tribute to only these few
because these folks especially
I felt I kinda of knew
No matter the medium
there was never a moment of tedium
and so I bid you all farewell
and thank you for the memories.
Happy New Year to all WordPress Bloggers. I want to thank all my followers and I hope to continue to attract your attention to my poems and photographs. I have enjoyed my experience with WordPress and look forward to the New Year. I want to send a shout out to my family and wish them all a very Happy New Year! Overall I hope that Peace reigns during 2013. We had many instances to be sad and overwhelmed during 2012. But we also came together and helped others cope with grief and devastation. We can only hope and pray that we can continue to help those affected to heal. I support movements like the 26 Random Acts of Kindness. This is something I will urge my followers to move forward. I plan to include more audios and videos. I will appreciate your continued support and feedback. Once again please have a very Happy and Healthy New Year. – Melba Christie
“The unreal is more powerful than the real, because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. because it’s only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. stone crumbles. wood rots. people, well, they die. but things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on.” – Chuck PalahniukPlease check out my Annual Report issued from WordPress.com.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 4,700 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 8 years to get that many views.
