Life is Too Short

Sometimes I think I may survive today,

and then worry about tomorrow

some other day.

But life is too short

to live life worrying about survival.

Life is too short to live it fully;

and it is too short to die young

even when you all your dreams come true.

Every day is a new day;

today is no different.

Sometimes I think I may survive today;

so I will just worry about tomorrow

some other day.

Maximize your life

Maximize your one and only life.

We only are given one, you know.

However, be vigilant of the Plan;

designed for only you,

during your terrestrial stay.

Maximize your life today.

Each day will be a gift.

Although you may not recognize the lift.

Wait quietly and still;

Careful of every step you make;

Mindful of every breath you take.

Until your life’s purpose is fulfilled.

Maximize your life.

I’ll Just Put It Off Until the Next Life

I had a very profound dream about the afterlife and it reminded me I had written this poem which is somewhat related. I am now sitting in front of my computer writing about the dream.

Poemattic: Poetry and Art for the Soul

There is only one life to live
Sometimes, the one you get
is too short or so it seems.

People say all the time
They do not have time for it all
Or they ask
Where has time gone?

If this is happening to you
Just put it off until the next life
I am not sure we are guaranteed
A second existence
But just in case
It won’t hurt to plan for one

It will be better
You will have time to plan ahead
Kind of a bucket list in the reverse

Or it could just be
these are the things I did not have time to do list
In reality I never made time to be me
Instead,
I became a whole lot of other people
So, now that I know
I will not be able to do it all just in this one life
These are the…

A Little Boy Goes

In man’s search for meaning

a little boy goes

hoping that someday he

will find his very own

Soon finding he is not alone.

His dream is for someday

to reach a star

not at all concerned

about how high or far

asking endless questions about

who, what and why?

He mostly wants to know

why we all must die.

In man’s search for meaning

a little boy goes

hoping that someday he

will find his very own

All he longs for is to be free

and that world peace

is our destiny.

The Older I Get

The older I get

The more I think about

my journey

on that one way road

I count the seeds I should have sown

and all the dreams

I abandoned on the crossroads

Sometimes my brain just wants to explode

There are so many mysteries

yet to decode

and memories begin to erode.

I think about time all the time.

Days fly by

minutes and hour seem shorter

And after all is said and done

All I want to do is make good

of the time

write a poem everyday

and on occasion make it rhyme.

Journey

Paths

Melba Christie

We all start our journey through life,

with the pitter-patter of our feet.

a milestone most of us meet,

by about the age of one,

all is discovery and so much fun.

But life will take you down many paths

some will be rough and some smooth

some you will hate

some you will love

some created just for you with blessings from above

Each journey a stop but not a destiny

each step purposeful and meaningful

so many lessons to be learned

even when you decide to make a sharp turn.

The journey of life

no one knows the measure

but try to make each moment

one to be treasured.

Love of Life

Inside me is a profound love
for life itself
Each breath I take reminds me
life is too short
Too brief compared to eternity

And what is eternity?
Who truly knows its measure?
I know my love is forever and
Shall be eternal
I count the stars every night
to make it so

The leaves of grass,
Waves,
Clouds,
They will outlive me
And when I am laid to rest
They will know somehow
I loved their presence
In my life
