Found Poem #2

Found Poem #2

In a blink

Death comes disguised as sleep

Clouds fill up the sky

Because they mourn and want to cry

The unreal is more powerful than the real

Some say the real is so much more

What is real?

How can we be sure?

Is it only what we feel?

But at some point

We realize our journey must end

We must leave our families and our friends

No more pretend

We have got to get out of this place

And leave some space

For a new soul

We will recognize the moment.

The Light shines through a prism

separating into a rainbow of colors

vibrant, pure: yellow, red, green,

blue colors blending with others to produce a world of many hues
Life rebounds!

Dedicated to my doctor

Listen to the gifts of your heart

There is a rhythm to life

Laughter and love heals all

So much to do, so little time

I trapped a moonbeam in a bottle

enjoyed my morning walks in the woods

Everything is fine

Pressed fall foliage in my journal

to test the power of time

What is this new hope I feel?

my heart beats strong again

Life is beautiful!

Live it well my friend.

Good Old Buddies

Thinking about friendships that last a lifetime. Dedicated to my dear friend Enid. We have been friends since second grade. The buddies described here are old army buddies. Happy Veteran’s Day and God bless.

Melba Christie at Poemattic

Good Old Buddies

Good old buddies:

one four score and nine

the other entering the ninth

decade of his life

A friendship that has lasted more than most

They can’t count the many toasts

they have shared

for good health

happy birthdays

successful careers

wives they adore

kids so keen

beautiful grandchildren.

They shared

fifty years of good debates

over politics

boxing

and the status quo

now life seems full of woes

one unable to see

the other unable to walk or talk

but their hearts beat in unison

the message is clear

the code understood

only old buddies can hear

hands shake tight

both still willing to fight

in spite of their plight

the good old buddies know

the end of their journeys may be near

when together however there is little to fear.

they bid each other an “hasta luego mi amigo”

for what may be one last…
